My kitchen was off for aweek, since there was 2 new shopping mall near by from our apartment, iam too busy window shopped *_* Finally i have day off yesterday, and started re open my kitchen hehehehhe. This is Indonesian traditional quick bread, when i was little girl roti gambang has been famous to acommpanion your tea time. Perfect with a cup of tea or coffe ;)
Just for variation, form the dough into round shaped then add grated cheese and rolled it, cut 6 cm lenght and baked.
250 g Java red sugar, grated (i dont have java sugar so i used palm sugar)
175 ml water
500 g all purpose flour
25 g milk powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
2 tsp spekoek ( special essence for layer cake or u can subtitute with cinnamon)
1/4 tsp vanilla powder/vanilla extract
50 gr margarin/ butter
3 Tbsp water, for brushing
5 Tbsp sesame seeds
Instruction:
Boil Java red sugar with water until dissolved. Set aside and let cool.
Mix flour, milk powder, salt, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, vanilla and egg yolks. Blend well. Pour in sugar syrup, knead until well blended.
Blend in margarine, knead until well blended.
For the dough into ball shaped, cover with pastic sheet. Set aside for about 30 minutes at room temperature until the dough becomes dry and easy to roll.
Uncover, form the dough into round oval shape, each weighed 50 g. Arrange in greased cookie sheet, give space as they will rise. Brush the with water and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Bake in a preheated oven at 150 Celsius degree for 30 minutes until done.
