Jewish Challah



Challah is traditional bread of Jewish was eaten on Jewish sabbath and on all Jewish holiday. A symbolic act, with a blessing recited when the dough is thrown into the fire or discarded. It is customary to eat three meals begin with blessing of loaves bread. Traditional recipes used a large number of eggs, white flour, and sugar. Modern recipes tend eggless and replace white flour with whole wheat, oat, or spelt flour. Sometimes honey or molasses is substituted as a sweetener. The dough is rolled into rope- shaped pieces which is braided before baking and brush with egg yolk and sprinkle with sesame seeds.



Nana (http://masak-enak-makan-enak.blogspot.com/) she introduced me this bread last time and i have interest to baked my own. Even no egg added the breads was really soft and moist. Thanks Nana really i was happy because my hubs enjoying the bread while just out from the oven. He said my bread was great, how do yo think friends??

Ingredients:

1 kg Bread Flour, 2 Tablespoons Yeast, 6 tablespoons sugar, 1 tablespoon salt, 1/2 cup Oil. 450 ml warm water, 1 Egg, Sesame seeds

Directions:- mix all ingredients in a big bowl except Egg & Sesam seeds, then knead it until good smooth dough has been achieved.- Place the dough in a bowl and let it rise for 1 hour. During 1 hour, punch & knead the dough in every 15 minutes.- Then, divide dough into your desired amount of loaves then divide each piece into 3 and start braiding- Place the braids on a baking sheet covered with baking paper- Brush with egg & then sprinkle with sesam seeds, let it rise for another 30 minutes- preheated oven for 150 C & bake the braids fo 30 minutes

  11. Asyikk akhirnya nemu roti yg nggak pake telur. Trus..kalo diisi ama keju atau coklat kira kira cocok nggak ya Lia? Ehhhh ngak usah maluw..emang beneran cantik haa heee. Thnx ya Li...Itu ayam presto nya apalagi..ngegiur in..mana tatakan nya daun lagi hoooooooooooooooo....asli ngiler berat liatnya.
