Fried Tempeh




Tempeh is made by a natural fermentation process with soybean into a cake form. It originated in Indonesia, where it is most popular, although it is common in other parts of Southeast Asia as well. It is especially popular on in Java, where it is a contain good source of protein. Like tofu, tempeh is made from soybeans, but tempeh is a whole soybean product with different nutritional characteristics and textural qualities. Tempeh's fermentation process and its retention of the whole bean give it a higher content of protein, dietary fiber and vitamimins. Because orich nutritional, tempeh is used in vegetarian cuisine; some people consider it as meat.

Indonesian people for sure they loved to eat tempe, and especially in Java considering tempeh as their main dish and they made so many variation to cooked tempeh. Fried tempeh is common to accompany yellow rice which is served on any special ocassion like birthday, eid or anniversary. Iam happy even am staying in middle east but tempeh is not difficult to get, i can find easly in any Indonesian here.
Fried tempeh:
-Tempeh 250 gr, cut into cubes 3x1 inch, then fried deep until golden colour, drained and set a side
-bay leaves 2 pieces
-onion 1 big size, choped
-garlic 3 pieces, choped
-salt and papper for taste
-chicken stock
-soya souce 2 tsp
-chili paste 1 tsp ( u can add more)
-green chili 3 pieces, split into two
Hot oil in the pan then saute onion and garlic until change colour then add bay leaves and chili paste also green chili. Add fried tempeh, and put all seasoning including soya sauce. Stir until all combined for 5 min. Served with warm rice or yellow rice.
